Vicarious Study: London |
My name is Floria. I'm studying in London during Summer 2012. This blog was created for you to experience it with me. |
Anonymous asked: i'm thinking about moving to London, like when I get more older. But kinda think it's hard too, because it's quite expensive living there. Opinion?
For an American coming to Britain, it may seem ridiculously expensive. But in reality, it’s no more expensive than living in any other major city. The cost of living in London is definitely lower than the cost of living in Chicago -or anywhere in America in general. I’ve heard that jobs over here pay well. So if you acquire one if/when you move here, you should be fine. After about a month in the swing of things, it’s really not that bad. You’ll find that most living expenses and general spending costs are much cheaper after about a month.
Great question! :)
Now calling this: London the Lost Photos.
Part I.
I’m a Liar.
I said I’d post some things last weekend.
But, I’m busy doing things rather than online. Duh :)
Anyways, these are my best 10 so far.
I’ll be posting a couple more with the Painted Hall at The British Naval College.
It really is beautiful.
Another thing is, I don’t like taking pictures in the rain. And seeing as it rains nearly everyday here, I make it a point to be outside exploring when it’s sunny (or just not raining). The pictures are better when it’s not raining. Trust me.
Also, this blog is supposed to be tracking my studies as well.
Remember, I’m taking Intro to Shakespeare in Text and Performance and Sex, Gender, and the City.
So far, I’ve read A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Entertaining Mr. Sloane.
Both my teachers are rather nice. Very British.
In fact, I don’t think either of them have an angry bone in their bodies.
I’ve got one friend here. His name’s Andrew. He’s the best. ♥
I’ve tried making friends with others, but everyone already seemed to have their “group” when I got here. It’s a bit stuck up, but what can you do?
Also, I’m one of two black people. That’s reassuring.
But anyway, after I’ve gotten all the Tourist-y attractions covered I’ll take to mentioning my favorite pubs/eateries.
Gotta put this restaurant guide to use.
More London to come.
Cheers.

But I’ve been really busy and severely jetlagged the past few days.
Please look forward to this weekend when I’ll actually have real photos of glorious London that are worth posting.
Xo,
Floria
Check back between 7 and 8pm Friday!
